OMEGA’s Bridges the Past and Future with a VR Product Launch Event

Speedmaster – Moonwatch Professional

The OMEGA Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch was the first watch worn on the moon during the Apollo 11 lunar landing in 1969. Since its earliest year, it has been a part of the greatest explorations of space becoming the most famous chronograph on Earth and were chosen by NASA in 1965 for all manned space missions.

50th Anniversary of Apollo 11 Moon Landing

OMEGA Malaysia set the product launch during the Movement Control Order period in Malaysia for their Omega Speedmaster 321 in conjunction with the Lunar Mid-Autumn Festival (Mooncake Festival). In commemoration of the 50th Anniversary, VTF executed the first Omega virtual launch event. Incorporating a 360degree immersive experience of the moon surface environment in the Metaverse. Omega’s VIP guests were exclusively delivered a mooncake gift box and VR headsets to enjoy the celebration together in the virtual space.

The audience were transported into an immersive introduction re-enacting the landing of the Apollo 11 in a first-person perspective which seamlessly leads to the interactive gamification module.

The participants were then allowed to move around in the virtual moon surface where they were given playable content to watch. A fun mini game was implemented to keep the audience engaged. They were tasked to search for a hidden Chang-O & Rabbit to win an attractive gift.

The virtual event schedule featured a livestream speech by OMEGA’s Marketing Director from Germany and Product Manager from Switzerland and hosted more than 200 visitors from 5 countries.

The concept of this Virtual Mooncake festival was to showcase a 360-degree view of Moon’s platform for a truly out of this world experience. Given the targeted audience of OMEGA are of high-society group, VTF designed a high quality yet compact experience where the highlighted features can be viewed in an intuitive and compact manner.
